Archie #600: The Hero Initiative Variant Cover - Starring Jughead's Time Police! ;)

Media: Pencil, Faber Castell Art Pens

So yeah. Finally got around to uploading my first deviation I guess. I wanted to wait and upload something special, never got around to it, and while sitting at work decided "Heck, why not?"

I'd really wanted to do one of these covers for the longest time when I first heard of the project. So one day I got up the nerve to walk into the office of my big boss, Mike Pellerito (President of Archie Comics and a really great guy by the way) and ask him if he wouldn't mind me doing one. To my shock he said yes and after sitting on it for a week or three to get some ideas and some other stuff done, cranked this puppy out in about 2-2 and a half weeks.

I'm pleased with the results.

Jughead's Time Police was this really whacked out alt continuity for Archie that was done in the early 90's I think. Really goofy stuff. I kinda liked it if only because it had a main villain - Morgan Le Fay (from Arthurian Legend no less). I thought that was pretty neat.

So yeah, the picture features various Archie continuities from different "time periods" in Archie's life: Little Archie (Elementary), The New Archies (Middle School - short lived 80's cartoon), Archie 3000 (far future - MULLET ARCHIE! LOL), and Archie 1 (Caveman Archie). I threw in Mad Doctor Doom, Chester, and Sharry the Spy Girl (The Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. - a Tom DeFalco story that's one of the best Archie stories I've honestly ever read) for good measure and Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Salem the Cat just because I wanted to draw them. :)

Never really tried to draw in the Archie house style before. I don't think I quite got it (still cartoony and rubbery) but I do like how Jughead and January McAndrews (Archie's descendant from the 25th Century) came out.

And I suppose that's that! Hope you enjoy it.

That's epic. I dunno whether to be proud or ashamed that I can recognize Fangs Fogarty, Evelyn Evernever, and Ambrose Pipps. Ha ha, keep on juicin' Dub. (I really should watch you but do you have enough BumbleStalkers-- I mean BumbleFans? Yeah...)
You do a great job on your Archie covers. ^__^

Man, I would actually dig seeing an Archie book in your own imitable, impeccable style. This is a great cover, Dub.
