Sonic the Hedgehog #141: Page 9

Uploading a few raw pencil versions of pages from the older days when I first started drawing the Sonic comics in 2003. (But only the ones I'm happy with or wanna talk about.)

Haha! I almost got in trouble over this page. It's come up a few times online so I may as well have some place to talk about it here.

As I was drawing this story, Megaman Zero 2 was fresh on store shelves. I remember seeing the Elpizo transformation sequence and thinking to myself -- "OH MAN! This would look great if something like this is how Knuckles transformed into Super Knuckles" (The original script was going to give him his correct Sega name, but it was decided last minute to change it back to the old incorrect one)!

Anyway I copied it shot for shot replacing Elpizo's feet and hands with Knuckles as an homage of sorts wondering if people would get the reference, but I copied it a bit TOO closely. It's a minor niggle in the grand scheme of things but I probably should have put an "After" or something. Ah well. Live and learn.

Pun not intended.

Also, I don't remember that shot of Knuckles screaming looking that terrifying... Eesh.
